Being able to place the serve well is and always will be one of the most valuable skills in the game of tennis. If a player has the ability to accurately and consistently hit all the different types of serves they will be able to hold serve more easily and more often. It will be even harder for opposition to break their serve if they can do it under pressure. Many coaches would agree that developing and practising serving placement is probably one of the most under prioritized skills despite its importance.
